About the Author
Douglas Soccio was professor of philosophy at Shasta College for nearly 30 years. Barry, PRACTICAL LOGIC, all of which are published by Wadsworth. For three years he wrote a weekly philosophy column for the REDDING RECORD SEARCHLIGHT. Now devoted to writing on a full-time basis, he is presently developing a collection of philosophical stories that express what he describes as "philosophy with a heart" a generous notion of philosophy that infuses all of his writing.

The Missing Link in our Culture - Logic!

Brilliant, engaging, well-written, informative. I took Logic in Jr. College w/Mr. Soccio as the instructor using this book as text, and after losing my copy I wanted to have one handy. If you want to learn more about how to think - not what to think, but how to use your brain to cut through the fluff and distractions we face every day from the media and in our lives - this book is the real deal. It should be required reading for everyone with a brain IMHO.
Not worth $247.00 of course - but you can find it other places at a more sane (logical!) price.

ambiguous and contraditory

While the thoughts expressed helped to improve critical thinking, too much was left open for debate. A book of this nature should not be left open to such broad interpretation and the words chosen or researched so that multiple meanings are not prevelant.
