Definitely worth having

This is a great book. I use it mostly to look up techniques while I'm working (certain pages are well dog-eared), but when I've read more, I've found it very helpful. I wish I'd had it when I was a student. Teachers should also find it really useful for helping students get the math refresher they usually need for college science classes. There are a couple of errors - you can download the corrections from the publishers website (where it says the mistakes are only in the first printing) - but in a book like this that's hard to avoid, and there are actually very few. Most of the book is really terrific, and surprisingly entertaining, especially the cartoons.

This book has the answers to all the math stuff you didn't pay attention to in intro chemistry and don't want to ask those more senior to you. I am currently working toward my PhD, and I use it daily at the bench.

An excellent book for everyone!

If you're a new researcher or have been doing it forever, this book is excellent. I have been a bench scientist for seven years now, and have found this book highly useful. The picture on the cover was indeed my desk and lab-space until I got this book in hand. Definitely worth it, and make sure your fellow lab-mates don't try to permanently adopt it!

I like that the assignments were real life situations

I'm a user of Excel but this book showed me a lot of new tricks. It's clear step by step instructions. Each lesson builds on what you learn previously so the skills are reinforced as you go along. I like that the assignments were real life situations. I was able to take what I learn and immediately apply it in my job. I plan on purchasing Skills for Success Access 2013 next.

Captivating for an eight year old

My eight year old daughter found these books in the middle of second grade. The reading level is about a 40DPR, or second grade in most places. Though a good reader moves through them quickly (maybe 45 minutes for the whole book) she loves them. She enjoys the mysteries and relates to the characters. This year she tried the "real" Nancy Drew books, but could not connect to a character who is in highschool and has boyfriends. The Nancy Drew notebooks are written about an eight year old Nancy whose mysteries that take place at slumber parties and dance class. Just the thing to captivate a young girl.

My husband and I purchased this book because our niece has a story that was published in it. I have read previous issues of Chicken Soup for the Soul books and really enjoyed them. After reading and thoroughly enjoying her story which is on page 317, we went on to read others remembering that all these stories are true events that happened to these wonderful authors. I highly recommend reading this book.

She has had a lifelong love for the meaning behind dreams, believes in ‘things happening for a reason’ and generally believing in the power of such things as premonnitions and dreams. Great book for a Novice or even a Veteran trying to brush up things

I had purchased this book an year ago to brush up my Java/J2EE skills before an interview and it really helped me a lot. This is my go to book when I am preparing for interviews. Kindle version of this book really comes in handy.

Please do not buy

Please save yourself time and money, if thinking of buying this book. It has outdated content. Published in 2012 and this book still talks about J2EE. Though the title mentions J2EE, I assumed its used synonymous with JEE. This book would have been a good buy 10 years ago. The struts version discussed is Struts 1 and the design patterns chapter is pathetic. You are better off reading various technical blogs that are for free. I cant believe that the print edition is 25$. I am not saying the content is wrong, all I'm saying is you are reading about cassette recorder in the day and age of dvd and cd's. I just returned the kindle edition.

As someone else has pointed out already are things which are outdated like topic on struts. The content discussed was struts 1 and not struts 2. there is no mention about the version that is being discussed in the book. Also it does not touch on topics like spring mvc. Few examples quoted on design patterns, dependency injection does not convey the meaning properly. But overall it is a good book to brush up the knowledge and easy to understand also.
