A Must For Every Library!

Wow, I have never read such a detailed book about the trinity in the Old Testament. If someone ever says that you can't find the trinity in the Old Testament then they don't know what they are talking about. This book by Shlomo is beyond amazing. It captures the true nature of Elohim as "they are God" in YHWH from the Hebrew Bible. If you want Old Testament proof for the Jewish trinity then this is your book to buy. A great deal for a short but detailed book.

Shlomo goes through Moses and the Prophets from the Hebrew to show the Powers in Heaven known as YHWH, Word YHWH and Messenger YHWH. These same three are revealed in the NT as the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. This is truly amazing!

I also recommend with this book, "The Great Mystery; How Can Three Be One" by Rabbi Tavi Nassi who goes through the Jewish sources for the trinity. Great combo to have!

Film buffs know Frank Borzage (1894-1962) as Hollywood's great romantic. As Martin Scorsese notes in the forward to this translation of a 1993 French monograph, there's not an ironic moment in any Borzage picture. His career apogee came early with the sublime 7th Heaven (1927), and his sound career included such triumphs as A Farewell to Arms (1932) and The Mortal Storm (1940)--in which even death couldn't end the love between couples Gary Cooper and Helen Hayes, and James Stewart and Margaret Sullavan, respectively. Although Dumont fills most of the book with synopses, production accounts, and critical assessments of particular films, most of which are seldom screened these days, the biographical details he offers reveal that Borzage was, despite an alcohol problem, as sweet-natured and warmhearted as his work. As post-World War II tastes shifted, Borzage's stock declined so that few but hard-core cineastes remember him. Dumont's authoritative, insightful volume is indispensable for rediscovering one of cinema's greatest and now undeservedly neglected artists. Gordon Flagg

About the Author
Herve Dumont is the director of the Swiss National Film Archive (Cinematheque Suisse) in Lausanne, Switzerland, and is the author of several works on film history. His History of Swiss Cinema (Lausanne 1987) earned the Jean Mitry Award, and Frank Borzage, Sarastro a Hollywood (Paris-Milan 1993) received the Prix Simone Genevois, awarded to the best European film book of the year. He lives in Lausanne. Jonathan Kaplansky works as a literary translator of French in Montreal. His translations include novels by Helene Dorion, Pauline Michel and Helene Rioux, poetry by Serge Patrice Thibodeau, a journal by Annie Ernaux, and several biographies of historical and political figures. His articles have appeared in Palimpsestes and Circuit.

Pretty Darned Impressive...

When film lovers and critics talk about a director with a definite-yet-indescribable style, they usually talk about "the Lubitsch touch". Yet, during my first semester of film school, my professor showed our class the visual and rhythmic devices that Lubitsch used to create his touch. Frank Borzage, on the other hand, truly has a definite-yet-indescribable touch to all his films. And this book describes, analyzes and unites the director's work and life in a very impressive and interesting volume.

There are some flaws, mainly having to do with the author (a Swiss academic) writing about Hollywood. For instance, there are some lengthy phrases used to describe aspects of film-making that could be described better (and more accurately) by movie industry terms. Also, in writing about Borzage working at Warner Brothers, he confuses the 2 addresses of that movie studio: during the Depression Warners was on Sunset Blvd in Hollywood, but by World War II they had moved to the town of Burbank. Dumont keeps referring to Warners Studios on "Sunset Boulevard in Burbank" and no such thing exists.

Still, my hat is off to this book, which crystalizes the thoughts and philosophy of one of the great artists of motion pictures.

This One Is An Instant Classic

It isn't often that you see a truly great book on the subject of something like fortune telling. Serious academics hardly want to touch the subject, and the shady world of divination is teeming with legions of self-styled "experts" publishing books, decks, and blogs, running workshops, and promising the gift of prophecy on youtube, if you'll only subscribe to their channel.

This is the one book that is truly different. Andy has humbly stated that it's for beginners to intermediate students, but experienced readers would gain a lot from reading it not just once, but referring to it again and again, until the pith is thoroughly extracted. The information is conveyed clearly, but not in a dumbed-down or patronizing way, and there is enough here that if one were to learn the contents, it would certainly be adequate to qualify them to do paid readings, with no misgivings or twinges of conscience.

The first parts explain things like what Lenormand actually IS (a method, not a deck), and some common misconceptions about it. You get incisive views from the inside, from a seasoned fortune teller, on some current vogues in the community. This makes the book interesting not just for a person who wants to read cards, but from a sociological point of view. There are thorough explanations of the card meanings, exercises, and an explanation of the various themes that the cards can fall under like "love", "finances", and "warnings", which cards can represent people, and more. Combination reading is covered, as well as reading by distance ("near and far"). Spreads are explained, and illustrated with the classic 19th century Dondorf deck, from small ones up to and including the Grand Tableau, complete with various techniques and examples. Andy has been a Lenormand reader for a long time, as a former student of his two past online courses, I can say this book makes a good review on his wide knowledge on Traditional Lenormand Method.
A good book to novel readers also to advanced ones.
I must say that the way he manages to teach the meanings and spreads is very accessible and friendly. Very easy to learn from.
If you are into learning Lenormand, this is the book!

A wonderful book for the beginning and intermediate Lenormand card reader. Practical, knowledgable, and very informative on the basics of the methodology, grounded in tradition, of combining and interpreting the cards.
Update: 7/29/15. This revision adds 96 more pages and very clear explanations on how to read the cards. Even if you have the first version it's worthwhile to get this more complete absolutely excellent book. If you want to really master these cards this is the book to have.

Beautiful spaceship sketches

[[VIDEOID:9929b005b43e5567c8aaaa04f503e0f6]]Lorin Wood likes drawing on the couch after a day's of work and now even has an artbook of spaceships to show for it. I find it quite humorous that there's even a graphic showing the comfortable position he has discovered on the couch.

Unlike other books from Design Studio Press, this paperback volume is stapled bind. The paper quality is matte and thick enough. The book's sold at an affordable price. No complaints from me.

This 80-page artbook features spaceship sketches, so maybe it's more like a sketchbook. The wonderful spaceship designs are drawn mostly on toned paper in grayscale and highlights with occasional colours thrown in. There are simple 15-minute sketches and the detailed 60-minute ones. They are drawn in a rather technical style with different accents to the lines, and copic marker renderings for the shadows.

The designs look terrific. I love the detail, form and composition. They look very physical. The latter half of the book has spaceship designs inspired by Star Wars so you'll get to see quite a few spaceships with those Star Wars-ish wings.

There's also a short two-page interview with Lorin Wood. By the way, he's also the founder of Nuthin But Mech which has two artbooks out already.

Enjoyable sketchbook. Great book showing different spaceship designs and the material used to produce it. While it is not a how-to book, it is a great book showing how the artist came about the designs and how he produced them. Well worth the read.

It was thought provoking because this book shared what it was like years ago spiritually & perhaps what we should strive for today! It isn't an easy read in that we don't speak the same way today. It also caused me to think a lot.

liked the hero & heroine

I liked both Rory & Lena. Rory was for the most part an ideal hero. Loving, caring, protective and faithful despite being only 18 years old and never have been with anyone other than Lena. Lena too was likable. Hard working, determined & loving, for the most part she seemed down to earth. I liked it that they were both virgins and gave their virginity to each other. It was sweet and the scene sexy. However, they did a few things that irritated me. The major one was their failure to use birth control. I understand that teenagers let hormones get in the way of reason. However, Rory & Lena waited to have sex for 3 years until they were both ready. It did not make sense to me that they waited all that time and then decided to play Russian roulette, sometimes using a condom and other times not feeling like it and going without any type of protection. Also they made important decisions without consulting each other, which I did not understand given how close they were. I wish too that the story was longer than 82 pages because it would allow more character development.

The kind of love everyone should have.

Rory & Lena have loved each other for a long time. Not the puppy love kind of love, but soul wrenching, I'll die without you love. Pure love that so few people find.
Rory is Lena's dream come true from the minute she saw him. Rory is all in when it comes to Lena. Possessive, protective and always on guard for any man stupid enough to touch what's his. He owns her heart and he gladly gave his to her.
They're trying to figure things out for themselves and move forward in their dream of a life together. Plans are made, but they don't always go as we hope.
In order to move forward they have to be apart. Long months separated and trying to get through devastating tragedy alone and scared; Lena reaches out for her rock and he's there.
I loved this book. After reading some very dark series for a while this book was my light. I needed this to remind me how sweet love is and to feel that glow again.
Jenika Snow is one of my favorite authors and her books are an auto-buy for me.

I'm in love with Jenika Snow. I honestly don't think I've read one bad book written by her!

This book is just so sweet and heartbreaking at the same time. The problems Lena and Rory go through probably are the toughest issues for any couple to get through. As a person who has experienced the same I can't tell you how important it is to have a partner who is there for you no matter what. Whether it's as a shoulder to cry on or an ear to talk to.

**IT IS A SHORT READ! SO BEWARE! BUT THERE IS NO CLIFFHANGER.**

Beautifully illustrated...

Almost every page contains a full page, beautiful color reproduction. Of course, Matisse is the most heavily represented
of the group, but other fauves aren't given short shrift. Derain, Marquet, Dufy and others are given sufficient coverage.
The author provides a brief and readable history of the movement. All in all, it's an excellent introduction to fauvism.
